On Monday Pete
decided I needed to have a nice bit of snorkeling. YES YES I agreed. Nothing better!
We had been in
Philippine waters for quite some time and while I had been swimming every day…a
lot of the time it just meant clinging to the ladder at the back of the boat
trying not to get swept away on the tide.
Or swimming happily under the boat and then leaping back up the ladder,
less happily, because…jellyfish!
So off we went…to
one beautiful bit of coral reef after another.
In 24 knot wind…no possibility of anchoring. No possibility of getting g a mooring… We did try.
I lost one of our boathooks, the ancient rusty one with the splitting
wooden handle, and the other one also got jerked out of my hands and was
rescued in slightly gentler waters. We
all so managed to get onto a lovely mooring, near some fabulous looking coral,
with a large turtle looking at us most inquisitively, but…it all turned to
minor-disaster as the mooring pulled way and we were unable to throw the rope
off. (Out came Mac The Knife! Oh dear and Oh NO!!)
We were very glad to get back into the calm waters of the harbour |
We ended up back
at our Busuanga Harbour mooring without getting wet at all…I stepped wearily
off the ladder for a dip and then…jellyfish!
