Yet another beautiful Coron sunset |
Facebook thus far
has been a blessing. I have re-connected
with my Dutch cousins – Aad in Gouda (Holland), Liesbeth in Lincoln (UK,)
Carel, her twin brother, in Reading, Pennsylvania. I haven’t seen or heard from them, bar the
odd very rare aerogramme (those were the days – do aerogrammes still exist??)
Last time I saw
Carel, he looked like this…
And now here he
is, prosperous, retired from selling real estate, and – sailing!
But now I am kept
up to date, more or less, with their lives.
I am also able to see what many of our rallyfriends are now up to. It seems that most of them are still in the
Langkawi-Thailand area, happily spending time at Rebak Marina, or gasping at
the beauty and lunatic tourism of Koh Phi Phi Don.
Coron from 2XS |
We are staying in
Coron for a few more days, and may do a circumnavigation of Busuanga Island
tomorrow – it’s not very far, and we will be able to go to the safari park and
see giraffes and zebras… Wildly out of place, but…I love giraffes and zebras!
They can fit a lot of people in one big blue dinghy |
It is very busy
here in the morning, and again in the late afternoon. Dozens of bankas (the local sturdy outrigger
boats) zooming in and out of the harbor, loaded with humans, dive tanks, life
jackets. They come very close to 2XS –
maybe we are part of the tourist experience??
