15th February - speedy 11 hour trip from El Nido to Busuanga Yacht Club (quiet bay, not far from Coron)

Sunday 15th February 2015

Quite a cool, drizzly day - thank God!
Last night we had planned to go to dinner at Squido’s.  They have two restaurants; one near the beach in El Nido, one on the hill, with, apparently, fabulous views and a sensational seafood curry.  On Friday Pete spoke to Honor, one of the spruikers, who was very keen for us to have a Valentines Day dinner there the follow night.  So…we turned up at about 6pm to ask where to go for the hilltop festivities and the very same man/woman, blinked at Pete and said, “But the hilltop restaurant is not available.  It is fully booked, for a wedding.”

Fish & Chicks…one of ur neighbouring boats in El Nido...
So…where to go for a lovely dinner??  Well, the Art Café, again, of course.  We met some very nice French people, Anne and Claude, from Brittany, who were having a two-week Philippine holiday.  They were thrilled to meet Tasmanians – their son had had a wonderful time in Hobart when he had a gap year in Australia.  He was wildly enthusiastic, and said people were so very kind and hospitable.

Between our two tables was the very fattest, glossiest restaurant cat ever.  Entirely white, with a black tail.  No pitiful begging under the table – the Art Café people are animal lovers!  Go there!

This morning we left El Nido at the crack of dawn, heading for Coron (Busuanga.)  We didn’t quite get that far – it is a very long way – but we did get to the lovely sheltered bay near the Busuanga Yacht Club, where we stayed for a few days when we first arrived in these parts in September last year.

Still so pretty, with slightly crazy architecture.

And a lovely gentle sunset.

SV Anticipation, the boat moored near us, from Hamilton Island, has been here for two years… It is being lovingly  cared for but…the owner is missing, out of contact!  He is a lone sailor, Alan, with a big bushy beard, a mining engineer who has been working in Indonesia.  If anyone knows where he is, or what his surname is…maybe he would like to be in contact??

Not sure if we will stay here for a few more days.  It is very nice here but…no phone!!  Emergency calls only.  I would very much like to phone home, like ET…
