Here we sit,
firmly tethered to an enormous mooring, in the sheltered bay near Busuanga
Yacht Club. There isn’t really a yacht
club here; there is a gentle little resort, with a small restaurant and some
pretty little huts along the ridge.
We paid our
respects there and left to go to the bigger resort along the way because,
although they do have WiFi at the Yacht Club, it wasn’t working today… (It
wasn’t working when we were there in September either…)
We met up with a
group of young French people, who were having a birthday dinner at the table
near us. They were thrilled to find,
near their feet, an elegant stick insect.
They don’t have these in France…
We met Shelley and
Rory, from a big teal-coloured boat moored nearby. They have been staying here, on and off, for
a few years, in between trips back and forth to Hong Kong. They were here in the bay during Cyclone
Yolanda, with huge winds, and they said the mooring held and it was all very
steady in this sheltered area. Worth
knowing!
Spread out across the globe there are two very special
birthdays today.
Michael Sasser, born 1981, my one and only son. He is in an undisclosable location, working as Communications Officer (ie postie) at a military base in the desert far away. He sends us all cheery emails from time to time – he is very good at describing the many colours and moods of the desert. We all love him and miss him most dreadfully.
In Tasmania, Eva Thomas, born 2008, is thrilled to bits to share Uncle Michael’s birthday. She is a wonderful girl, full of love, full of fun. Her birthday cake this year was a sight to behold – a golden pyramid with Katy Perry bursting forth!
