Back on our faithful mooring
Depth 6.7m

At 3pm exactly we arrived back in Coron Town, and found our faithful mooring waiting for us, after all those days away – we left here early on the 8th.  It almost feels like home…

Through the beautiful airy windows
Yesterday we went to Faros, the fabulous lighthouse tower resort, the one which looks like a magical fairy castle.

Looking up up UP
Jimmy, the owner, builder, designer, formerly from Switzerland, was full of cheery chat and information.  He built this wonderful little resort three years ago, with the help of 40 willing workers…most of whom were employed simply to heave building materials up up UP the steep path, 40 metres straight to the top.

Jimmy walked down with us
He says that yes maybe he could install some sort of mechanism to haul materials up but…then the 40 willing workers would be out of a job.  “And,” he says, “they are very happy every Saturday to receive a nice pay packet.”

Sandbags need to be lugged up UP
We ate lunch – extremely delicious.  I had fish, fresh and fabulous; Pete had chicken adobo.  And – we made use of Jimmy’s WiFi.  It kept going off because he kept getting phone calls and wandering off to talk…I think his phone was the hotspot, so we had to wait for him to come wandering back to get re-connected.

Never mind…it was just lovely up there.

Jimmy's workers were lugging green bamboo poles, very heavy, very long, right up to a new building site
Jimmy and his wife have just returned from a whirlwind two week holiday in Australasia.  They went to Tasmania.  I asked what they saw and he laughed and said, “Hobart, and the old prison.”  And a wildlife park along the way, with some very fight-y Tasmanian devils having a go at each other.
