8th December - Super Typhoon Hagupit abating

Monday 8^th December

As a bit of a contrast - the marina in Launceston, in the peaceful (muddy) Tamar River

Hagupit appears to be abating, after wreaking much havoc.  From a selfish point of view…we are very relieved that 2XS has survived unscathed.

Pete has sent Toby and Rosie the following email message:

Hello Toby and Rosie,

I am beginning to think you can relax and perhaps even return to civilisation.

It looks like the Typhoon Hagupit has blown  itself out and will have very little impact on you or 2XS.

So now you can begin preparations for a HAPPY CHRISTMAS  and following new year.

Thanks once again for your diligence and attentions to the safety of the boat and sending me the photos.

Pete has had friends staying for the past four days.  (Diana is a Headlam cousin – Headlams are very attached to family, far and wide.  Pete’s and Diana’s great-grandfathers were brothers which makes them …cousins of sorts.)

All three of the guests have an alter-ego.  Diana has been mistaken for Barbra Streisand.  Her husband Graham is often told how much he resembles Jim, Carrey.  And their English friend Richard – well he says people sometimes cross the street to shake his had and ask him to sing The Gambler.  He says, I look NOTHING like Kenny Rogers!  But…he must!

As for Pete…well we went to Summerhill Road Christmas drinks on Saturday and one of his newly-met neighbors told everyone we had Clive James in our midst… Not sure how thrilled Pete was.  This man asked me if I was “offended” and I said Of course not!  I love Clive James!
