23rd December - busy Hobart days

Tuesday 23rd December

My favourite son is back in town…

Claire, Nicky, Katy, Michael
My favourite offspring are reunited!!

And today I too was reunited with Michael… He had brought me pearls, from the United Arab Emirates.  And he was full of good cheer and looking forward to his next deployment… He leaves Australia on 6th January…

After Lauderdale I had a bit of waiting time in Bellerive.  Looking at the marina made me nostalgic for marina time on 2XS.

Leo and Jeff had a fabulous bushwalk to Mt Ossa.  Leo is thrilled to bits because he got lots of mud coverage.

Pete desperately needed new boots.  He made a new friend in Tradewear…

John Oldmeadow, the shop owner, said that if Pete bought these boots it would be a record for length of time in contemplating  a purchase…

He didn’t buy  the boots.  They were the wrong fit, and John said it would take him toll Christmas to clean up all of the boots strewn around the shop floor after Pete’s trails and tribulations with this and that style of workboot.

Eventually he bought a very cheap pair in K & D, which did not pinch and squeeze his delicate feet.  He wore them out of the shop and put the old worn out ones in the box… When we got to the checkout he said, “Gawd, you’re not going to charge me $39 for these, are you?”  The woman at the checkout out looked at him long and hard then turned to raise an eyebrow at me.  “There’s one of these every day, isn’t here?” she said, sighing deeply.  And the security guard at the door said, with an equally deep sigh, “You might like to remove the label from your new boots or I will book you!”

This afternoon my friend Mary came to visit, with her beautiful daughter Bronte.

Bronte, Katy, Mary
Bronte wanted a demonstration of Prezi.  I couldn’t help at all; the internet refused to load any form of Prezi.  But she also wants to build a straw bale house so she had a lovely time looking at the most beautiful straw bale house in the world!

This evening Katy’s oldest friend in the world, Kate Russell, has been visiting from Melbourne with her husband and her children, Ted and Iris.  Kate and Katy met in the state library when they were five weeks and one week old…and they have been firm friends ever since…

Kate and Katy
Before they arrived Rose tried to decorate the Christmas wreath vase and Eva tried to rescue it…

Busy happy times!!
