Wednesday 8th January
Waub's Bay, Bicheno |
I rang Pete
yesterday hoping for good news re batteries etc. He was very astonished to hear his Malaysian
phone ring, from far away Tasmania.
Well, from anywhere really.
He was seventy
nautical miles out at sea, in Thai waters – the phone shouldn’t have worked at
all! Ah the power of love!
All is well. The batteries arrived thank you Mr Yeong, at Multiquip! Pete will
get to the marina in Phuket just a few days later than anticipated, to get them
installed and ready for the next bit of sailing adventure on January 14th.
Meanwhile in
Bicheno (aka Bighanistan) it is still cool but…yes SO beautiful.
The people are beautiful too |
We have frolicked
on the beach.
Some, very
sensibly, wearing more winter gear than others…
We are very lucky to have another generation represented |
The blowhole has
been spectacular.
Cousins were reunited.
Nicky’s friend
Anna spends most of the summer holidays at the family shack in Bicheno. She told us that last Friday it was very
warm, if slightly windy. Waub’s Beach
was crowded with happycampers. All fun,
all GO!! Children digging in the sand,
toddlers toddling, swimmers swimming.
Suddenly there was a HUGE gust of wind.
One of the large kayaks on the sand at the far end of the beach was
lifted and started spinning end over end speedily up the beach… DANGER!!
Several people were injured… A woman was smacked in the back, another
was flattened. Finally a very brave,
large man flung himself on the kayak and wrestled it to a horizontal position,
like a crocodile hunter, and an uneasy peace returned to the beach…
