25th July - birds - Italian restaurant

Thursday 25th July

Yes we are still at Spot On Marine with our MidgieFriends.  But…maybe all will be fixed and we will be off and away to Fannie Bay…in the fullness of time…

Last night at dusk we had a group of small white egrets come to paddle along the mudbank, just as the tide was coming in.

And overhead – two Brahminy kites!  I only captured one, but was pleased to have managed – I have been trying for a long time…They are beautiful birds, with white bodies and glorious russet wings.

And just look at our beautiful sunset river, at high tide…fabulous!  Pete and I just love it, as we sit, in a cloud of poisonous anti-noseeum spray…

Last night we had dinner at the most Italian restaurant you can imagine:

It was noisy and cheery and…the people who ordered pizzas (Cliff and Jocelyn) got theirs at least half an hour before the people who ordered scaloppini (Pete, Tom, Marguerite.)  Never mind; we were happy… And we did hear a very charming (??) story about a time, quite recently, when the chef at the restaurant (possibly this one…) dropped dead and the staff, after ringing for an ambulance, nimbly stepped over the corpse to make sure the meals got to the tables (more or less…) in time.  And if this story is not true…it should be!
