My beloved MacBook
Air dried out overnight so it is now up and running again. I am very relieved…I had sad and distressing
dreams about it all night…
Step #1 of the
return to 2XS…
Friday was
frantically busy, with many last-minute jobs and farewells. And a brief visit to the courtyard in
Salamanca Place, which was absolutely heaving with happy people- Rektango was
back, playing up a storm! I caught up
with about a dozen people I hadn’t seen in the past year or so, then off to eat
a delicious fish curry at Katy and Jeff’s.
We flew reasonably
comfortably from Melbourne to KL. It all
felt interminable, as long flights always do, but we had three seats between
the of us so there was the possibility of putting down those squeezy armrests
and actually being able to move our elbows.

And there was much
prettiness below us. Puffy white clouds
with pretty shadows. And a majestic
sweeping vista of Lake Eyre.
We stayed
overnight in the airport Tune Hotel, thank goodness. It would NOT have been fun to wait in yet
another interminable series of queues to get onto the flight to Manila. Much better to have a proper sleep,
horizontal, and not upright in a narrow seat on a crowded plane, dribbling ignominiously
and making snuffling sounds… (I observed those around us yesterday and there
was much dribbling and snuffling…)
In the hotel foyer
I met Eleanor, from Melbourne, who had been on the same plane. She was waiting to see if she could possibly
get the power connected in her room – not an unreasonable request – while we
were checking in. I was very happy to
have met her because she has forwarded me the website she and her husband work
on
and it is very wonderful.
They are bird watchers and travel the world for three months at a time, taking
fabulous photos. This time they will
have six weeks in Sri Lanka and a further six weeks in northern India. So watch their space!
You neglected to mention that you and Pete met in the Salamanca courtyard watching Rektango.
