4th January - Highland Waters to Launceston

Sunday 4th January 2015

We woke early this morning to the sound of heavy rain.  Oh dear and oh no…so much for the glorious planned Christmas/Garden party, reuniting my Launceston and Hobart families.

But there is a God after all.  The sun broke through, the rain stopped, and it was after all a totally glorious day.

We began the day with splendid fruity pancakes, and then a walk around the lake, with two very willing canine companions, Webber and Billy.  These dogs are absolutely beautiful and absolutely charming but they have a fatal flaw… One of them has to be on the lead at all times.

Otherwise they watch with eager eyes for the least sign of their adult companions losing focus and off they scarper, sometimes not to be seen again for several fraught hours, or even days.

This added a slight degree of stress to our otherwise peaceful walk, but we loved being with them, and we loved the lakeside.

We drove up over the Western Tiers – so very beautiful – and own into the peaceful plains below, making our way towards Launceston, where a veritable feast awaited us.  And sisters
