2nd December - Volvo Ocean race (Vesta Wind)

Tuesday 2nd December

There are two types of sailors, those who have run aground and those who are about to.

(We have been on a few reefs ourselves, on 2XS...)

My friends Janice and Mick, from SV Zoa (Western Australia)

are justifiably proud of their hardworking sailorboy son, Tom.  It has been his dream since the age of 11 to sail in the Volvo Ocean race… He was SO thrilled to get a position as crew on the Danish boat, Vesta Wind.  And yesterday…it ran aground on a reef… The boat has been abandoned.  Nobody is hurt but…everyone is totally devastated.  We feel their pain!!

Today’s birthday - my brother Pete Harmsen – half a decade plus half a century old today.  And still working hard, exercising hard (he is a true Harmsen…sometimes I am NOT…) and loving his life (once again, a true Harmsen…)
