Monday 22nd December
We are back in beautiful
Lauderdale, looking out at the sea from Lynne’s dining table.
It has all been
very busy. This morning I had a trip to
town and back on the Christmas Bus, from the cenotaph. All very thrilling for two and four year
olds.

We had time to
look at the Cat & the Fiddle at 10.00 in wonderment and admiration. This is such a simple thing, and very dated
but…everyone just loves it. There was
once a fountain beneath it, and open sky above it. My children would always want to dangle their
hands in the fountain and the rest of a trip to town would be dismal, with frozen
little hands and sodden sleeves. The whole
area has now been taken over with cafés, and the roof is closed in. But…everyone still loves looking at the Cat
& the Fiddle.
And the encroaching cafes provide lavish treats for small children...
