Thursday 8th May
No problems at all
coming down the coast from Pangkor. The
tide and the current was with us all the way, although we left at 6.30am and
anchored at 6.00pm so really the tide and current should have turned against us
at some stage.
All that happened
was that the water got murkier as we went further south into
IndustrialWorld. Not just murkier to
look at but…smelly! At one stage I
darted downstairs very anxious to check our eggs – had one of them cracked and
turned noxious??*
But no…we are just
in a dirtier smellier part of the Molucca Strait.
Never mind…I am
very happy to be anchored, in silence.
We will leave early again tomorrow and should get to Port Dickson in
good time. Pete is cooking a delicious
meal; I am sipping a cool drink…all is well!
Speaking of delicious
meals…two restaurants have opened at the Pangkor ferry terminal/marina. (There was no such thing when we were there
with fifty other boats (Malaysian Rally) last year. We chanced our luck at the Thai restaurant and
oh my goodness – the food was delicious!
As good as anything we ate in Thailand**… So if you are ever in
Sitiawan, on the Malaysian mainland, with Pangkor Island in sight – go there!!
We had been hoping
to see James Khoo, the manager/part owner of Pangkor marina. He is one of our more memorable new friends,
full of charm, information, energy. Pete
rang him on his mobile and…where was James??
Why, he was sailing in Uzbekistan.
As you do…
James last year in between Pete and Sazli (Sail Malaysia organiser) |
* This has
happened before…Nicky found a very festy cracked egg, nestled in amongst its
healthy friends, and rescued 2XS from a very smelly infestation
** Better, says Pete, darkly.
