7th May - Penang to Pangkor

Wednesday 7th May

We left our very pleasant anchorage in the south of Penang early this morning to zoom, gently, down the coast to Pangkor marina.

Storm clouds!!
On the way – terns!*

And fishing boats, lined up, motionless.  Until suddenly it was 10.15am and they all sprang to life and took off, dragging nets, as if a timer had gone off.

Just along from us is a shining gleaming new Lagoon catamaran, new off a transport boat.  It is being delivered to Phuket.  I spoke to one of the sailors responsible for rigging it and getting it to Thailand in a pristine state.  He said they aren’t sleeping on the beds, or cooking on the stove, or using the toilet.  NOT AT ALL!  Everything is shrouded in plastic so it can be delivered fresh from the factory**…

We have a dear little new PetFriend...green!  And without much sense of direction
Tomorrow we are leaving VERY early, trying to get to Port Klang…it should take 12 or 13 hours… Today I finished the Ford County stories (John Grisham) – very good, lots of laughing, lots of crying. And I finished Mr Wigg, which Nicky brought to Langkawi as a present for Pete.***  I now know A LOT about fruit.  And…I cried…

* One good tern deserves another…

** Oh the stress!!

*** He loved it

Just in case I can’t connect to the internet tomorrow…

Kathy (R) with Chris (L) - colour co-ordinated!
Happy birthday dear Kathy Westlake…Such a good friend over so many years.  Kathy is a most admirable person – full of courage, love, fun.  And now once again a grandmother, to Levi Sydney in Shepparton, welcomed with much love.
