18th September - Busuanga Yacht Club anchorage to Coron Town (Philippines)

Thursday 18th September

Farewell sunset (Busuanga Bay Lodge on the right)
This morning we left our peaceful Busuanga Yacht Club anchorage, with its sheltered bay and friendly people.

Tangat Island
It is very overcast today, which makes for easier, cooler sailing but not such good photos.  The islands are so spectacular.  Tangat Island was nothing but sheer cliffs, dropping to the sea, with the occasional tiny white beach.  It looks nothing but dark and menacing in the photos.  Unfortunately…

Coron Town itself, at first glance, looks disconcertingly like…Hobart!

Love it!
We had a bit of trouble finding a good anchorage.  It is all a bit deep and then suddenly – Reef!  Coral!  No depth at all!  Where we are now is OK but…maybe we will bang and crash a bit as the tide goes down…

Co-ordinates
11 degrees 59.301N
120 degrees 12.394E
Depth – variable…
Coron Town (Busuanga Island)

Our anchoring was rather impeded by a small local boat, with skipper & wife, who were fascinated and came right up close behind, making it all very difficult for Captain Pete, who needed to reverse.  In a hurry!  We were, however, very charmed by this boat, with its resident chook…

(The chook is perched on the box at the front...will see if I can get a close-up by zooming in.)

  1. How delightful to have a chook on such a small boat! Great to see you're having regular internet. X
