15th October - celebration of Pam Headlam's life

Tuesday 15th October

Katy told her children that Pete is now an orphan.  They were very sad for him that his mummy had died, so she asked Leo and Eva what they might do or say to make him feel better.  After much thought…

Eva (5):  I could say, Hey Pete!  Do you want to come to a disco?

Leo (7):  Pete!  I have only eaten half this apple!  Would you like the rest of it?

The funeral was amazing, and totally wonderful… Two hundred and forty people attended – that is A LOT for a 94 year old person, most of whose contemporaries are no longer able to attend funerals… The chairs were draped with blankets Pam had created…The ones here only represented a fraction of the ones she had made over her long, productive life.

Each of her children spoke, most eloquently, and then a representation of grandchildren from each family, followed by one grandchild from each family branch.

The basic theme was… love…  Pam was above all a generous, kind and loving person – hence 240 people at Turnbulls…
