19th June - Labuan Island - Labuan to Brunei?

Thursday 19th June

Last night was another prize-winning rally dinner, at the Billion Hotel, next to the marina.  All of the people in the original photo taken in Miri won prizes (well not 2XS, but we were never in the running…or the sailing…)  We were very pleased and proud and I took lots of photos, all of which are out of focus…

WINNERS!
I did get a photo, however, of the genial hotel owner of the Billion complex…

Singing Bee Gees songs (hotel owner wearing red shirt)
Well if you own the hotel, surely you can sing and play with the band?

And display your car collection just outside the foyer?

Mercedes, Rolls Royce, Ferrari etc
We are not at all sure what we are doing today.  So many options!  We can leave at 9am, with the race to Kota Kinabalu.  Or we can hang around here, on Labuan Island.  Or we can sail to Brunei for a few days – it is only twenty miles away.  Complicated choices…Just one issue is – alcohol.  You are not allowed to have more than a bottle or two, when you go into Brunei.  It is VERY strict.  So what about Pete’s golden collection of Skol beer??  What could possibly go wrong

It is still early; we have time to get a bit more info before we make a decision.

Katy’s birthday…

She is in Cairns at the moment, with her darling family, on holiday at Coconut World, which she says is like Grindelwald ON STEROIDS.  Nothing but funfunfun!  It is hard to write about any of my children without using superlatives: that is the prerogative of mothers, and my offspring…well they will do, each and every one of them.

But here goes…Katy is a most excellent and wonderful person – brave, kind, funny.  We all (siblings, parents, grandparents, children, friends, husband) adore her and she is a shining light in our lives.

Since I have been away she has transformed herself into some sort of SuperAthlete – fun runs, obstacles courses in the mud, that sort of thing.  Is she really my daughter??
