Wednesday 23rd April
Nicky asked why boats
need a thick layer or three of anti-foul, replenished every two years.
This is why… Angus
took this photo of the pontoon right next to 2XS. And that is what the poor beleaguered bottom
of 2XS would look like without antifoul…
This morning I
talked to a man from a neighboring boat on our way back from the ablutions
block. I was admiring a hornbill
flitting overhead and he said that yes they are very charming. BUT… He lived in a house on Langkawi for a few
weeks while something was being done to his boat, and the hornbills were
frequent visitors. So charming, so
friendly but they pooed copiously everywhere, in various lurid shades,
depending on what bright-coloured berry they had been eating. Oh… I had been hoping the darling birdy would
land on 2XS for a photo session but maybe not!!
HOTHOTHOT!!!
Yesterday was…ummm…hot! And, yes, fun.
We got up early
and made our way from 2XS, via recently inflated dinghy, skippered by very
capable Angus,* to Telaga marina, where we caught a nice comfy aircon van to
the cable car. Angus was full of
FACTOIDS about the cable car. Well…he
had been googling…
We were the very
first to buy our tickets so no long queue, no long wait. The cablecar trip was fabulous, interspersed
with factoids from GoogleFriend Angus.
We looked down at
Telaga Harbour, where Pete was reading his book on 2XS, with the odd bit of
snoozing…
There was then a
bit of shopping** and a bit of canoodling with local snakes…
Hamish - cautious but relaxed
Angus quite happy
We are now back in
Rebak; back in the pool which is as refreshing as a very warm bath… Back with
friends. Ready for another adventure
tomorrow – a Mr Din 6-seater car awaits, with a bit of luck…I have prepared a
very complicated treasure hunt for the Galeria Perdana…The boys will be BUSY!!
* Hamish has
already well and truly mastered the art of dinghy driving
** Lasers are
about $3 each here in Langkawi; they are not available at all in Australia…
Glad to see you are all having such a great time. Bob and I had lunch with your girls and some of their husbands and children recently and it was just lovely to see them all.
