Friday 18th April
Every Friday a
Chinese grocer brings a vanload of goodies over to the ferry terminal on the
mainland of Langkawi, for hungry yachties.
Fresh fruit and veg, yoghurt, chicken fillets, tins of this and that. We have been in and out of this marina since
early December and today was the first day that I managed to remember it was
Friday in time to get on the correct ferry to connect with these magical
supplies.
It was all very
pleasant. Lots of our friends on the ferry, ready to take turns peacefully
checking over the onions and potatoes. I
made a new friend:
Next time I am
taking some food for her… She was very friendly but very alert and watchful,
with her nose twitching constantly just in case I had a tin of sardines hidden
in my bag.
A very cheery Arab
man was at the terminal, with two of his shrouded ladies. Pete and I watched, gobsmacked, as he posed
them against the waterfront to take photos of them…One of them had her eyes
veiled as well as all of the rest of her…a lovely photo it will be. When he had finished, she took the iPad and
took some selfies. Will they go back to
Saudi Arabia to show these photos, and to have people say, Gee you look relaxed/beautiful/happy??
Last night our
neighbours Robyn and Craig, from SV Gemini V came over for a sundowner. They are leaving the boat here and are going
back to Australia for three months, to visit family, and to establish a home
base.
We will miss them! |
I had just
finished Phase #III* of nail rehabilitation…there will need to be about ten
more phases before they are back to normal.
We took a photo of my blue nails and feet next to Robyn’s beautiful pink
toes…
Pete has hardly
needed to do any scrubbing at all. I am
a much messier painter…
Counting down to our Tasmanian visitors…
Happy fortieth birthday James Darcey!! A big party in Launceston tonight to celebrate this auspicious event...we will be there in spirit!
* there has been a
lot of scrubbing
