Thursday 19th September
Last night we
could see Beautiful Bali, in the sunset light…
So we set off
at 6 this morning, leaving beautiful Lombok behind.
And now we are
anchored near (beautiful) Lovina, on the north of Bali, after about ten hours
sailing/motoring up the coast.
All went
well. Pete is much better, after nearly
24 hours horizontal in our cabin. The
sea was with us; the wind a gentle breeze.
Some people we have spoken to/heard of have had a horrendous crossing
form Lombok to Bali; I don’t think either of us were up for a horrendous
crossing…
Our only issue
was these things:
Cute and jaunty
rafts.
Do you want a closer look?? Not so nice, not so cute!
Everywhere! Miles out to sea, close to the coast. Everywhere; it needs repeating!
Some of them are quite low to the waterline, and they are very hard to
see. Others are very large. We think they are fish-attractors, and that
they provide a nice place for fishing boats at night time. One or the other of us had to concentrate
every inch of the way, to avoid collision, which would have been mightily
unpleasant for 2XS.
Tonight we are
going out to dinner on shore; unlike Gili Air, the sea is calm enough for us to
go in to the beach in the dinghy without getting swamped. WEE HEE!
I do hope Pete is well enough to enjoy his food…
Yes I know this
poor Lombok monkey is a bit out of focus…but I was a bit nervous, feeding him
from my fingers – monkeys in Indonesia sometimes have rabies… He was a kind and
patient monkey, however, so all was well.
But…he got sick of my slow and tentative doling out of veggie chips and
finally snatched the bag out of my hand and stalked off, as if to say, Enough already!
