Monday 16th September
Above - the
aforementioned chairs. Not only were
they dressed in satin, with blue sashes, but…they had padding! Pete and I had front row seats and we were
very happy indeed.
And yes – new
ikat woven scarves to add to our collection… There are about 28 Rally boats
here so we made an impressive showing.
Thank goodness…
Bailey, from
Galatea, and seen on a previous post at breakfast time with Pete, made a
wonderful speech, in Bahasa Indonesian and English. This went down VERY well with the
audience. Wreathed in smiles, the local
dignitaries.
And yes there
were lots of speeches which maybe went on too long but…we had shade, padded
seats, bintang to share, and LOTS of entertainment.
Dancers:
These young
chaps dressed in Turkish costumes to do their traditional sword dance. Not sure what the Turkish connection is, with
Lombok Northern Regency, but we just sat back and enjoyed it.
Gorgeous girls
in lovely costumes, twirling their fingers and dancing most gracefully.
Drummers with
BIG drums - nothing like a really big, resonant drum, is there?
And then an
early dinner.
And…another
beautiful sunset.
It is 9pm and
we have just come back from a l-o-n-g Lombok Tour, followed by a convivial dinner
with RallyFriends at our cheery outdoor marina restaurant. TOO tired for words so…no words re The Tour till
tomorrow…but here is a pretty flowerphoto to tide us over.
Nice photo of you and Pete and a lovely flower shot - could be a postcard - would be a nice painting. But I keep wondering , what happened to your Uke? It never gets a mention.
ReplyDeleteI have a delightful mental image of you sitting on the pink sand under a palm tree playing the uke and singing. Or am I thinking of someone else entirely?
No Elsa you are correct...
ReplyDeleteThat WAS my intention...
But time slips by and other things happen and it is SO HOT!!
But I INTEND to pick the poor neglected little ukulele up very soon and become....proficient and melodious!
