Sunday 23rd June - Hole in the Wall

11 degrees south
136 degrees east

No internet connection here at all so once again, over to faithful Katy to post this email as a blogthing.

We left our lovely anchorage on Raragala Island, went through the fearsome Hole in the Wall, and are now anchored in another boot-shaped bay on Guluruwa Island.

The Hole in the Wall was, as Leo would say, majerous and not fearsome at all. We cruised through, with the help of the tide, at a spanking pace, just behind Settlement. It was just beautiful.

It is also very beautiful in this bay. White sand, interesting rock formations, the glorious Arafura Sea. But…it is dreadfully windy, about 30 knots. Sue, on Settlement, has asked Andrew to find another anchorage but…there is no such thing, around these parts.

We have had just the odd mishap…as you do, on a boat… A rope snapped and a shackle went through the windscreen and made a big jagged hole. Fortunately the big jagged hole is ONLY in the windscreen and NOT in Pete’s head. We have bodgied up some protection for the windscreen so all will be well.

Time now for Pete to have a soothing XXXX Gold and a bit of happytime on the couch with Lee Child…

Not sure if we are leaving tomorrow; it depends on…the windy windy wind…
