16th June - unnecessary items - sourdough success

Sunday 16th June

Last night we trotted around the boat getting beds ready for our boatguests, arriving at 6pm today.  I managed to clamber onto the bunks with my huge blue knee while Pete searched for pillowcases.  He says we have more pillowcases on 2XS than you could ever need; more than you could jump over.  Well, we don’t… What we do have is eight – EIGHT!! – queen-sized doona covers… As we were preparing to go to sleep, Pete said, in slightly bemused tones, Having eight doona covers is nearly as silly as me having four thermal jackets in my clothes cupboard.  And only two pairs of lightweight shorts.  He does indeed have a fine array of thick warm coats, plus another two sturdy waterproof numbers in the life jacket cupboard…

I don't have photographic evidence of this, but we have just had a delicious breakfast of sourdough toast.  #9 Effort of Pete's was splendid!  We really do have to admire his persistence; most people would have thrown the starter into the deep blue sea long before this epic moment.
