4th June - last day on Horn Island and Thursday Island

Tuesday 4th June

We are probably leaving Horn Island within the next few hours.  Just a few jobs to do first…mainly, to go in to shore and get a new slab of XXXX Gold.  Pete needs to keep his fluids up!

Pete has been manoeuvering his new gasfitting tools and he is very pleased with the result.  And I have been very happily wiping down the benches in the kitchen with our teatree oil mixture.

And here is a photo, with the squirty bottle modestly in the foreground.  What do you see?  NO flies on the benches!  They are still hovering in the air in a ghastly and annoying manner, but they are avoiding all of the surfaces which have been touched with Majerous Mixture!

I have another Thursday Island photo, taken not far from the ferry wharf; it doesn’t really capture the essence of TI, where most of the houses are very new, smart, modern, expensive, but it probably shows how it used to be, before TI became a Government Island…
