After I had emailed my blogpost Pete pointed out that we were actually still on Raragala Island; our boot-shaped bay was the mirror image of the one on the other side. I had got confused once we had gone through the Hole in the Wall passage…oh how unusual…
Last night was full moon. Pete woke me around 1.30am and we ambled out onto the deck. The moon shone silver on the Arafura Sea; stars twinkled brightly in the sky.
The wind had died down just a bit.
Which is why we were out on deck…
We gently unfurled the headsail, lowered it just a bit by winching the halyard, and then Pete carefully removed a dodgy shackle and pin from the bottom of the sail, which had been causing him much anxiety ever since he had spotted it, randomly, and very fortunately – trouble brewing if he hadn’t noticed - in the afternoon.
He tied it all up with a more trusty bit of rope and…we trotted off back to bed.
Ah, romance…
This morning we left our very VERY windy anchorage – the wind had come up again, after a brief respite in the middle of the night – and made our way across to Alger Island. We had heard there was a delightful anchorage there. We heard wrongly; it was fearfully windy. We dropped anchor and had lunch, but we were both quite dismayed with our resting place. Not only wind but…waves, tide, current, all conspiring to make the boat Rock And Roll!
We upped anchor and made our way across the channel, and now we are very happily bobbing about, with very little wind, wave, tide or rock and roll, on the very tip of the Napier Peninsula. Tomorrow we hope to through the Cadell Channel and find a delightful beautiful anchorage at Elcho Island, where, with a bit of luck, there will be – internet connection! Phone reception!
