Well the theme for today is…rain! MUCH rain!
The decks are all clean; the washing is all done and hung out on the rails. And the next challenge is to get everything
dry again.
Last night we had dinner at the resort, and met a very
sprightly Chinese-PNG man, aged 72, called John. He very much wanted to chat, until he ran out
of steam and went back to sit at the bar with a friend to watch the rugby. (Rugby is on all the time; it is very popular
in PNG and there always seems to be a game to watch.) John told us he was born in one of the Japanese
tunnels – his parents were interned during the war, and his mother gave birth
in the bowels of the earth…
