8th March - farm wedding with no weather emergencies

Sunday 8th March 2015

Pete, Martin, James
We are back in town, more than a bit exhausted…

The farm wedding was totally splendid.  It didn’t rain, not even more than a tiny spit.  The wind held off; it was neither hot nor cold; the marquee didn’t fall into a heap.  What more could we have wanted??

All 130 guests were seated and fed, after a lakeside ceremony.  A bus took us most of the way, but there was a bit of rocky road to negotiate.

Some of us were wearing very high heels and found this a bit of a problem…

No not me…

Just out of sight in this photo are my new and very comfortable blue patent leather fittflop shoes, bought for the occasion in the Mall of Asia.  Very grateful I was not to be trying to teeter…

Pete, as may be seen, above, is wearing a BLUE suit.  Electric blue!

In fact, almost exactly the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses…

Hmm…No this was not intentional, and no I didn’t have anything to do with it.  James had told Pete that the wedding party would be wearing blue, and that he might like to tone in.  He went to his favourite clothing hire company in South Hobart (fancy dress…) and found a suit which made him very happy, and certainly made him stand out amongst the crowd.

The actual groom and his support team wore…navy!!

James, Martin, Ross, Jabba
James and Bron had meticulously planned their event.  It was an absolutely rural event.  The groom arrived in a large tractor, followed by his trusty hound, Jed.

The bride arrived, more sedately, by water.

Chris, Nichola, Angela - waiting for the bridal boat
Jed (aforementioned trusty hound) was the ring bearer.  He accomplished his task with due decorum, but soon after disgraced himself by biting Jabba the Groomsman on the arm and tearing great chunks out of his brand new trousers…

Jabba had trodden heavily on Jed’s recently injured foot, with resulting mayhem.

On a happier note…BrideBron with her father, Wayne
Rebecca read The Owl and the Pussycat, a favourite of both James and Bronwen’s.  (And of mine…)

And then it was party time back up the hill in the beautiful big marquee, after a massive photo session.

Nicole festooned with cameras
The professional photos, taken by Photographer Extraordinaire Nicole, will be sensational.  I only have speedy ones, taken on my iPhone, so I am not doing justice to the beautiful and splendour of the event.

Jed enjoyed the speeches

But not the bridal waltz…

And I am not sure what he made of his beloved Bron dancing like an Egyptian…

But I thought she was fabulous!

  1. This is a really sweet blog! I had a friend get married in one of the New York wedding venues and it sounds like Jed had more fun than me. All kidding aside though, I think weddings are beautiful occasions when we come together to celebrate holy union of two halves. Have a prosperous new year!
