28th March – from
the horse’s mouth – ie from Captain Pete on Flinders Island – an email sent
near midnight last night
As far as our progress is
concerned, we have been sitting out a predicted high Northerly wind on Wed
(today) which has not happened, and waiting for a westerly approaching on the
front of a high tomorrow. Just in the
last 10 minutes we have been hit with a strong southerly, none of which has
been forecast. So I must say I am over
the BOM forecasts. We are expecting to leave here tomorrow am but we are
totally confused by the forecasts. I
probably should be relying more on my own predictions .
Steve lent us his car and we had a few hours today to go to Emita, where Rachael and James visited the museum while I went and purchased 2 more diving air bottles ($500) from a mate of Steve's. Then went to Walker's Lookout which highly impressed the crew.

Why only a few hours?...you
ask. Explanation...we spent hours
working out the erection (?) of our new Trisail. This process was helped by a very informed
Sydney sailor John, who sails out of MHYC in Sydney. For the record he was on a monohull with
brother Bruce and captain James and his brother Bill. They left for Sydney today, probably a good
move, as the forecasts have basically stuffed us.
Well I am a bit tired and we are presently rafted up to a fishing boat leaving at 6.30am tomorrow. So not much sleep for me.
