Hamilton Island
marina
Whitsundays,
QUEENSLAND..
We got a lift in a buggy on our way to the airport |
Yesterday I went for a last walk around the beautiful
island.
Everything is greening up and recovering fast.
I went right along Catseye beach and took a photo of Frangipani
101, where the Thomases stayed, above Catseye Beach.
When they weren’t on 2XS, they spent a lot of time in various
beachside pools and resorts. All very lovely. But…on their last day they discovered…at the
very end of the frangipani building…a lovely little lagoon pool and BBQ area, just
for them…
This reminded me of when we were in India, with Vin and
Anne. We spent three very VERY hot days
in a half-finished hotel, the Jackson Narmada, in Jablapur. We ventured out every day to explore the fabulous
marble gorge and the temples, and arrived back in the evening to puff and pant
in our sweltering rooms. On our LAST
day, when we were catching a train at lunchtime, we found…hidden away down an unprepossessing
corridor, a tranquil oasis with a large blue pool, cool, inviting, clean, with hovering
waiters hoping for the opportunity to bring us glasses of chilled Kingfisher
beer as we floated past them.
Peter Frappell has arrived. He is expecting his son and three friends, arriving
as we leave today.
He brought a shiny new hawser, seen here with the old
one in the foreground. A thing of
beauty!
This morning I am doing the last bit of washing and
drying and packing and handing over of leftovers to Peter. And tonight my life will change drastically…I
hope my iPhone full of podcasts, books and Nashville episodes will carry me through
the many hours in the sky…
