London
London Eye |
Yesterday was our first London day.
We caught trains and tubes and walked a long long way.
Cubby tree |
It was overcast
and rainy and the crowds kept away. Hyde
Park was absolutely beautiful,
green, wide, comforting, with enormous trees.
and many statues |
We sheltered in a café and watched people standing
silently under a large tree – just legs showing.
Pete paid his respects to his namesake, Peter Pan.
We made our way to Buckingham Palace and then to
Westminster Abbey. Pete was very keen to
go inside and do a tour. I was (of
course) less keen…but in fact it was all very beautiful, and very interesting.
We carried portable devices and were given just enough information by a man
with dulcet tones. I said, “Wasn’t that
man a good speaker, over the earphones?” and Pete said “Well yes, it was Jeremy
Irons.”
We caught a series of tube trains towards Epping and
arrived at Emma and Lindsay’s welcoming little house at about 7.30pm.

They are wonderful; their baby is gorgeous. All is tickety boo except…I am slumping again…
We are supposed to be making our way back into London for more sightseeing but…I
can see a comfy bed at the end of the hallway and I think that is where I am
going to spend the day…Such an asset as a travelling companion…
