8th December - screens and snakes

Tuesday 8th December 2015

Pete has spent the day look on at fridges, dryers and washing machine in a whole lot of huge electrical goods shops across the Gold Coast.  I have shown a polite amount of interest but mainly I have sat slumped on various couches in front of

Screens!

This morning we had breakfast on Cam and Liz’s front deck – back deck?? – and we admired the glorious view up the canal.

Everyone we meet is fascinated by our BoatPython story.   Kerry has a python story too.  He woke one morning to find a sizeable python curled up along the railings on his veranda.  While he watched, with cautious interest, the python dropped, grabbed a startled pigeon down below the deck and proceeded to strangle and eat it!  Nature red in tooth and claw in his own backyard!

An obliging butcher bird posing above the David Attenborough scene
His other snake story is more alarming.  He hooped into his pool for a nice soothing swim and noticed he was sharing the water with – middle sized brown snake – one of the most venomous reptiles in the world!  He got out of the water VERY energetically!

Home tomorrow; I have very much enjoyed my Gold Coast days.
