Our lasting memory
of Koh Muk will be the very delicious dinner* we had at the very new Had Farang
resort, in the middle of the bush, up the hill from the beach. Fabulous massaman curry…as good at the one at
Paradise Beach.
and of this little
boy in the bright orange t-shirt, keeping up with the BigBoys every evening on
the beach.

Here he is , closer...
We left early in the morning and found a mooring near a beach on Koh Tarutao, which is a very big, wild island, with not much habitation and lots of old-growth forest.

Not far from
Langkawi now. We have very nearly run
out of fresh water, let alone potatoes, onions, cheese, beer… We will be very
happy to see Kuah!
This is great!

A Mystery Of The
Sea!!
Where are Pete’s
thongs?? These are very dear to his
heart. He broke one of them – Pair No #1
– when we were in the Northern Territory.
For a while he limped along on one, with a very cheap and nasty
Australian flag rubber thong on his other foot.
And then, after an extensive and exhausting search in Darwin, we found
his favoured thongs and bought them, very happily. Unfortunately we (I mean HE) only bought one
pair… I, on the other hand, have four pairs of my beloved Fitflops, and rather
anxiously feel this is NOT enough.
Last night we tied
up to a dilapidated jetty to go exploring.
As we stepped out, Pete said, Where
are my shoes? I hadn’t seen them in
the dinghy at all and had assumed he had left them on 2XS. No cause for panic. Yet… But now it is broad daylight and his
thongs are still not to be found. I
rather think we will be doing some intensive/exhausting searching in sports
shops for a replacement pair when we get to Singapore… (And maybe I will
secretly buy a spare pair to hide away for emergencies…)
And now we are
back…in Langkawi!
Wee hee!
Home!! (almost…)
* We have had some
very disappointing meals. I read an
article in Lonely Planet about “backpacker food,” ie Thai food which is mass
produced, packaged, diluted, to appeal to…backpackers. I think we have had quite a lot of this,
unfortunately. Nothing to do with price
– meals are generally very cheap, whether tasty…or not…
