We have a
beautiful neighbor, Dexter. She is very
much adored by her owners, Jock and Leanne (South Africa.)
Jock now works as
a captain on big yachts, but until recently he was a free-diving fisherman,
based in Capetown. He showed us bits of
film, taken on his GoPro, strapped to his head.
He would dive to 35 metres, scattering burley around him to attract BIG
fish. And hoping the big fish were tuna
and not…white pointers…
Pete is still
working on the boat. He has conquered the
240 volt problem and has re-wired that part of the system so we now no longer
need a maze of wires and cords. The boat
looks very nifty without this labyrinth of cord. I think today he is working on the phone and
the computer, trying to get the battery problem sorted out once and for all.
I have left him to
his own devices, sitting next to the BigFan.
This morning I caught the ferry to the mainland and then a taxi to the
duty free shopping area full fo corningwaare, cigarettes, wine and chocolate. I was in search of bowls and small plates the
same as our new yellow, white and blue melamine ones so the galley is now all matchymatchy. (The discarded old non-matching plates and
and bowls have been banished, and they lie in a low cupboard awaiting a deserving
person who won’t mind that they are just a bit horrid.)
