April 2017
We are still in Blue Water marina. It has been all poshed up since our last stay
here in 2013. Instead of the cosy little
portacabin toilet set-up, with the demountable office, there is now a large,
flashy hotel/bar complex. Much further
to walk to the ablutions facility. And
not quite as friendly and homey as it used to be. Ah, progress…
Steve has left us.
He has a ten hour bus strip today to get him to Proserpine, then he still
has another 100 kilometres to get him to the Wintermoon Festival, somewhere between
Airlie Beach and Mackay. And then he will
be flying back to Flinders Island, back to work.
Steve on the back at Port Douglas - we had a full five minutes there |
Yesterday we hired a car and went for morning tea in
Port Douglas. (Mocka’s Pies in the main
trip – go there! Unpretentious and very delicious…)
Next stop – Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure! This was my second visit, Pete’s fifth…And
yet again we enjoyed it all very much.
The rangers and guides are so very knowledgeable and likeable, and the crocs
are fantastic.
As are the very VERY cute birds…
