24th May 2016 - sunny day in Palau

Tuesday 24th May 2016

The other day some of the handsome young crewmembers on one of the superyachts anchored out in the bay came past, paddling on their boards. They looked admiringly at 2XS, bobbing gently on the mooring.  Well yes they should admire 2XS, with all of the beautiful new blindingly white white paintwork!  They asked us what we were doing, sighed deeply, and said, Living the dream!

Well yes…but a lot of The Dream involves…fixing the toilet pump gain and again, and pumping out the bilges and trying to keep enough power to allow the one and only fridge to stay cold.  Surprisingly…solar panels, no matter how plentiful, do NOT work when it is raining and overcast…

Today it is sunny and I am overwhelmingly happy to be able to wash all of the sheets and towels.  They are festooned around the railings, being baked dry by the hot sun, and I am SO grateful!  The Dream is not always…dreamy!!

We are sitting in the yacht club, battling with the internet, and watching, with fascination, a large group of learner divers which suddenly materialised beneath the jetty.  They look  very happy!

  2. Oh the luxuries we have and take for granted! Every time do a load of washing I am grateful (once I've got over the tedium of it all)
