11th April - last day in Boracay (Philippines)

Saturday 11th April 2015

We have decided to stay one more day in Boracay.

Why not??

Yesterday we had lunch at a busy Italian restaurant on the beachfront, on the corner of one of the laneways to the open-air D-Mall.  It was so extraordinarily busy out there…

I took a photo of the crowd – it looked like a football crowd, but in fact it was just people idly promenading along the beach front.  I idly thought, Well how amazing…all those people and we don’t know one single person.

But…of course Pete did know more than one single person!  He wandered down to the beach while I was trying to find the beach bakery (it had vanished…) and he had been greeted like a long lost friend – Salaman, his Kurdish companion on the plane from Manila to Coron in March!  Salaman and his extended family – beautiful wife Daria, young children, nanny, plus newly-met in-laws – were spread out over several sun-lounges under the palm trees, having a great time.

Most of the food available in Boracay is great – large portions, not too expensive, many different ethnicities.  But we were particular struck with a display advertising special pancakes…

What would you rather have??  Double choc chip, or…pork floss??

  1. Maybe pork floss is like pulled pork; delicious and very trendy in restaurants here.
